About The Artwork

'I hope I don't fall' is an art describing my constant state of mind. Recognizing my daily need to stay ahead. Showing up always with my best foot forward and showing up regardless of the recurring stillness of the wave. It is a show of hope already backed with action while being patient for the seeds to grow bountifully.

Born in Lagos (Nigeria) in 1994 and currently practicing in Lagos, Nigeria. Eniafe Gbenga Michael is a self-taught contemporary visual artist whose mediums are primarily acrylic and oil paint on canvas; his work has strong roots in soul impersonating patterns, abstract face expressionism and figurative realism. Eniafe Gbenga is a graduate from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta with a B.Agric degree in Animal Nutrition and Feed Technology. Eniafe started art professionally in 2018 by doing portraits before having keen interest in body art and face painting using pattern representations of different lines where he later had the opportunity to work with a past political President of the Federal republic of Nigeria, a State Governor, a special adviser of the State government, a TEDx event and a notable Bank; all in Nigeria while studying for a Bachelor's degree. He recently exhibited in England at the Gainsborough Hotel with the Cynthia Corbett Gallery in late 2022 through 2023 and has been featured in two commercial magazines in America and England respectively. With no formal education in visual art, Eniafe has mastered his craft to a reasonable extent with practice, on-field experience and consistency. Drawing inspiration from his personal experiences and happenings in his society, Eniafe Gbenga works are largely based on story telling, black identity evaluation, re-education of the black man, Power and correcting negative stereotypes; by painting positive alternatives through his art.
