ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I have absolutely no idea what this is. I just had the uncontrollable urge to apply paint to a canvas, so I grabbed any old painting I could find, and just started painting over it. This is not unusual for me. Many an innocent painting has been lost to this compulsion to paint on anything I can get my hands on. I like to let the painting create itself to start with, and once I see what is happening, I take over. I also like experimenting with different colour combinations, so this is probably my main contribution to the painting. I also find simple relaxing pleasure in painting for the pure sake of painting, with no goal or idea in mind. Please note that there is a lot of texture, and character to this painting due to the several layers of paint from the old painting underneath. I also considered re-stretching this painting onto a new frame, but decided I liked the old feel to it. This is an intentional choice by me to keep the "patina" of such an unusual piece of art.

From drawing dinosaurs, cars and designing football jersey's as a small child, to crazy abstract paint splashes as a big child, Art has always been a part of my life. I studied the traditional masters, and practised their techniques in my early years, but have since broadened my strokes to have the confidence to paint in whatever style inspires me in that moment.
