Ilmatar Painting

According to the runes of the Karelo-Finnish poetic epic "Kalevala", at the beginning of the existence of the world, Ilmatar – the virgin daughter of the Air, descended from heaven into the primordial sea. Frolicking in the water, she conceived from the east wind. For seven centuries, the Goddess floated on the surface of the sea, and could not give birth, because land did not exist then. From the eggs laid by a duck on her knee, Ilmatar created the Earth, the Sky, the Sun, the moon, clouds and stars. She created animals and plants, and then sowed the earth with seeds and watered them with water so that they would sprout. After that, her son Vainemeinen was born - the first man, a hero, a prophetic rune singer, a sower and a sage. He is a shaman who acted more often with sorcery than with a sword or a spear. This is my first work from the series on the epic Kalevala.
