In this piece I worked on a rigid foam board applying paint with non-traditional tools. I typically prefer to work on foam or thin plywood panels for a rigid, smooth, flat, stable, light-weight surface rather than the texture and flexibility of stretched canvas. I make my frames from new, re-purposed hardwood flooring. All work on foam is framed with glass to protect the surface. This piece is framed with bamboo.

I build layer after layer to achieve abstract complexity and depth. I hope the viewer's eyes will wander over the imagery as if looking through a microscope or telescope viewing the details in the foreground and background.
