To be frank, rather than me commenting, I will let Wallace Stevens, whose poem I thought of while painting. Anecdote of the Jar I placed a jar in Tennessee, And round it was, upon a hill. It made the slovenly wilderness Surround that hill. The wilderness rose up to it, And sprawled around, no longer wild. The jar was round upon the ground And tall and of a port in air. It took dominion everywhere. The jar was gray and bare. It did not give of bird or bush, Like nothing else in Tennessee. The work is more about the wilderness and our relationship, if it is about anything, than I could easily say.

I am a painter. I was resident in San Francisco for many years. Now I live and work in Minneapolis, MN. I was trained figuratively, and painted in representational mode for many years. Some years ago, I started painting abstractly. Now, with the move to Minnesota, representation, in one form or another, is beginning to reemerge in my work. I no longer strongly distinguish between the two. My works are in collections throughout the US and Asia. I have pieces both at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, and the Weisman Museum in Minneapolis.
