ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Incitatus - a stallion of Spanish origin - had no special merits before the people. He performed well at the races, but gained worldwide fame thanks to his insane master, who was Julius Caesar, famous for his antics. The Roman emperor spared nothing for the pet: he made a marble stable, ivory feeders, presented a purple blanket and a collar with precious stones. The author of this painting was inspired by this ancient story. Painting is made in the style of Gustav Klimt and the frescoes of ancient Byzantium. The horse's mane and body are richly and detailedly decorated.
