“…Colorful forms, lines, women figures and textures are combined to create paintings, video art, animations and piano compositions that express a constant search for freedom. The artworks transport the viewer/listener to a spiritual journey where the soul is in the process of “awakening”. The soul has gone through "dark nights" and meditative states to be able to achieve a higher level of consciousness and finally has arrived to the "Gardens of Freedom". After all that struggle, the soul conquers a moment of happiness; she has won the "battle", fought her own demons and is ready to live in total harmony with the Absolute. Now the skies and times are endless, and she has become “one with Nature and the Universe”.

Gabriela questions the systems and traditional myths. She is interested in finding the Divine without necessarily practicing the rituals stated by any specific doctrine."

Artist Statement "Resting in my most intimate spaces I meditate on the phrase "the personal is universal". From this moment on I can justify the sharing of my intimacy: my most sublime spaces and my inner heavens. My heavens, which can also be your heavens, are the place where I'm born again and I'm able to become one with the divine. It is in this space filled with peace, sound and color where I find heaven on earth. In the midst of this sharing of light is how I experience the most sublime freedom!" About Gabriela Esquivel was born in San Jose, Costa Rica in 1981. Since her early years she studied painting and music. In 1999 she lived in Germany and Switzerland, where she received lessons in painting, singing, and German. She moved to Puerto Rico in 2005. In 2010 she obtained a Bachelor of Art in Sculpture and two minors, Motion Pictures and Fashion Design, from the School of Fine Arts of Puerto Rico. In 2015 she obtained a second Bachelor of Art in Humanistic Studies with emphasis in Music from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico. Since 2005 she has worked on acrylic on canvas. She participated in the X Florence Biennale, Italy and in Spectrum, Miami 2015. She has also participated in various group exhibitions at Botello Gallery in OId San Juan, Puerto Rico; Casa Real Gallery in Costa Rica, Rancho Santana in Nicaragua, Village Design Art Gallery, Fort Lauderdale; and the School of Fine Arts of Puerto Rico. Her work has influences of mysticism, the search of the sublime, and the search of inner worlds. Her painting is poetic, at times minimalist and at times vibrant and full of color. Her musical studies are reflected in her work.
