Interpretation Painting

This painting is within a series of paintings looking at the Colorado River. The painting is an interpretation of an aerial view of the river as it empties into the Sea of Cortez which has become a trickle at best. The work is done in brillant color and strong shapes in a geometric abstraction of the landscape from above. The medium is oil and resin on canvas with a combination of palette knife and brush to move the color of the painting into forms of shapes and color. The painting is inspired by a specific place and is my interpretation but because of the abstraction allows the viewer to connect and make their own references and interpretation of the painting. The painting is an original one of a kind oil on deep canvas with painted edges so a frame is not needed. It has heavy duty hanging hardware and wire for hanging.
