Painting is inspired by a recent visit to Ironbridge Gorge in Shropshire England. This is a larger follow up work to the previously sold 'Ironbridge Gorge' In this work I have attempted to convey the sense of peace and tranquility one experiences in such dramatic settings, light dappled through the tree canopies, the gentle noises of water and leaves moving on their branches above. All these natural elements combine to resinate with our deeper senses. 'The Wonder of the World, The Beauty and the Power, The Shapes of Things, Their Colours Lights and Shades, These I Saw, Look Ye Also While Life Lasts'. – "Denys Watkins-Pitchford". Due to their nature, use of metallic oils creates a finish which changes in hues and colour intensity when viewed in different light conditions and angles creating a constantly changing pictorial image. Painting mediates between thick 'impasto' handling of paint to smooth translucent washes. Painting is mounted in a 40mm thick 'Floating' style black varnished frame. Pictures are taken with a canon 450D camera in dull daylight in flash off mode and are as faithful as i can take them. Painting will come varnished and completely ready to hang with brass eyelits and cord with varnished in (sealed) signed certificate to the rear.

Simon Jones was born in Grimsby, England. Once the second largest fishing port of its kind in the world, Grimsby sits directly on the North East coast fringed by what is known as 'The Lincolnshire Wolds'. He studied Fine Art on a Foundation Course at Grimsby Art College back in the late 70's and went on to study at Degree Level at Kingston Polytechnic London and later at Hull University gaining a BA Hons Degree in Fine Art. He has lived and worked in Lincolnshire most of his life and feels a close connection with its unique landscape. "My passion is Oil Painting primarily my local Landscape (Lincolnshire Wolds). I have lived all my life in and around this landscape and use it as an inexhaustible and inspiring material for my painting. I have a deep love of Fine Art stretching back over 40 years now. Whenever I get the chance I take the opportunity to visit Art Exhibitions and Galleries both home and abroad. I endeavour to imbue my landscapes with mood and melancholy saturating the canvas with varying layers of paint in order to convey tone and texture in what I see. Remember: Look now while life lasts ...
