ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I finished this just after Russia invaded Ukraine. Coincidentally the background colours match the Ukraine flag. The flowers in her hair are also similar to the Ukraine traditional headdress. The piece is simply called Iryna which means “Peace” in Ukraine. I am donating 1/3 of the proceeds to the DEC's Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

I was born in Folkestone and now live and work in London. I am a self-taught artist and have been drawing since I can remember. When I was eight or nine my parents took me to a Saturday morning art club. They bought me my first easel a few years later and i have been drawing and painting ever since. I work in a range of media including charcoal, pencil, oils, acrylic and watercolour. I have a passion for water and the human form. I have also illustrated the children’s books written by my wife, Jo Burke.
