About The Artwork

PLEASE NOTE: This will be on display at the other art fair in London from March 17 -20, 2022. If bought the artwork will be sent out after the fair. A wise man once told me, " Remember! When someone points the finger at you, there's 3 pointing right back at them ". I have had experiences with people in the past who would go out their way to make you feel like you were the issue but, really it was them all along who had the problem. With hindsight it is as clear as day but, when you are in the moment you don't always realize it. This series is called 'It's not me, it's you'. There are 3 in the series, each person has a spotlight on them representing the moment you are made to feel a certain way and that it's about you, but lingering in the dark space is the person with the real problem. furthermore, I was inspired to have the portraits in this series have similarities to a court jester because their job was to make people look at them and laugh but, were also pointed at and made fun of.

When creating my art, I try to find new ways to present a portrait. I have an unapologetic enthusiasm for colour. When starting a painting I look to see what colour combinations work, sometimes inspired by the colours in the image, my mood at the time or everyday colour combinations which I observe. I especially like looking at interior design and the colour choices in a room. My portraits are from models of men and women in makeup and fashion. I believe this comes from my interest in fashion and makeup artistry growing up, I fondly remember buying fashion magazines to specifically look at the fashion adverts. After my Art Foundation, I studied Graphic Design, and this is a huge influence on the way I approach my artwork. I use editing and digital means to sketch and design my artwork and ‘play’ with compositions, lines, and shapes. While all my concepts are designed and planned, the creative process is intuitive and I see my work as a reflection of myself, whether is a mood a feeling or a thought. I continually work on numerous concepts and series at a time and upload my artwork pieces not necessarily in order but when a piece is ready.
