Art Description

Painting: Oil, Acrylic on Canvas.

I don´t know J. K. Rowling, but I´ve seen the Harry Potter movies with my family multiple times. I have read all her Robert Gailbraith novels.

What I really like about her is her own story - the determination and hard work she has put in to realize her dreams by transforming her ideas and magic to words on paper. I also admire her social media presence, where she has no trouble coming up with a witty and strong counterarguments to bullies and fools. I even like her sometimes contradictory opinions, since they are based on her own set of values and experiences and she always backs them up with well thought out reasoning.

I like smart and hard working women.

I have been painting portraits for years. My portraits evolved into "Icons of Icons" when I added gold leaf to the background, loosely following the tradition of religious icons.

When I swapped the oil painting for the background and the gold leaf for the actual portrait I developed what I call my "Gold Portraits”.

The thing is that I always enjoyed the paintings in their early phases, when they were still unfinished and relaxed.

I decided to drop out everything unnecessary, like the gold and most colors. Then I paint my sketched lines meticulously through several times with a very small brush. This enables me to preserve the undulating sketchy lines in a finished painting.

In addition to oil paints I use an ultra black acrylic paint, one that absorbs 99% of visible light, to emphasize the contrast and highlight selected colors

These graphic paintings I call my “Bold Portraits”.

I hope you like them!

I paint iconic people and topics that have had an impact on me or our society.
I paint oil on canvas, but in my BOLD portraits I also use a ultrablack matt acrylic paint.
The painting is signed on the back and has my “e” symbol on the front.
The painting continues around the sides, so it is ready to hang unframed.
