This is one of 5 French-themed posters I painted while at my 4 week residency at Chateau Orquevaux in Orquevaux, France Oct. 2021. I was awarded the Dennis Diderot Grant and one of my paintings was chosen to be part of their permanent collection. I splashed the background with the colors of the french flag blue, white and red to show movement and meaning. Then I chose a metallic gold acrylic paint to make the black graphic letters and designs "pop" The fleur-de-lis is an iconic french design so I incorporated it into the border. I hope viewers are full of positivity and excitment when they see this poster. Joy of Life. I chose this style because I love the uneven brown paper with the thick black letters. The message is bold and consise. The paper takes on a life of its own when it dries. A natural curling occurs. The metallic gold gives it a luxurious touch. This can be simply hung with clips on nails to allow the curl of the paper or it can be flatly mounted onto a board. Visit: Instagram Patricianolanbrown
