ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Named after my Taiwanese room-mate in Chicago when I was at The Art Institute of Chicago in 2008. The idea of the journal painting is to make large paintings more personal and intimate, more enveloping. There is a lot of handwritten text that is just me journaling on the surface. Because the piece is so big it is impossible for me to photograph it at my home, so I have stitched together several photographs to show the whole piece of art.
