About The Artwork

The "Ki" in Japan or even "Ch'i" or chi for China, which can be translated by natural energy flow, is a notion of these two cultures designating the fundamental principle forming and animating the universe and life. Ki is at the origin of the universe and links beings and things to each other it is a subtle substance that moves and circulates inside the body. It is present in all manifestations of nature. In Greek tradition the closest term would be "pneuma" the breath of life. Here in this latest painting, the artist wanted to bring the translation of this concept closer to the Indian ink founding these civilizations. Moving, fluctuating and powerful, its strength lies in its versatility and in the unexpectedness it generates.
