Art Description

Painting: Acrylic, Oil, Fabric on Canvas.

This painting was created using mixed media. A lion emerges from an abstract, patterned background. The photograph was taken while on safari in Okonjima, Namibia. The lion was rescued from being slaughtered by villagers and brought to the sanctuary, where education in conservation is an important part of the reserves work.

I like to use different texture, so that my paintings are interesting to look at. The background has layers of acrylic and oil as well as fabric found in shops around Cape Town.

Many artists have influenced my work but in particular the late Keith Joubert and Japanese/Brazilian artist Manabu Mabe.
