About The Artwork

Original abstract tempera and latex painting on canvas. Side edges painted black, ready to hang. Part of the Loblolly Memory Pad series. Vibrantly colored, whimsical paintings on canvas and mixed media emerging from a unique process. Each image with its intricate mosaic of positive and negative forms is a bridge from the past to the future and contains the legacy of many generations of previous drawings engraved/impressed on paper, enlarged and translated onto canvas. Each picture reveals its unique meaning to me, its identity emerging during the process. As the artist, I am the medium of its message. The art is not finished by the artist, it is ongoing, completed in the imagination of the viewer.

Hi. I am a North Carolina-based artist. At some point, the world broke into particles, for me. I realized that matter was interchangeable. Everything is significant, in that, it is part of everything else. I start with matter and see how it comes together. There might be realistic elements or not. Mostly, my Art is about the glory of life. If we can find it. Recently, I am creating whimsical paintings with brightly colored tempera and latex (see these series: Memory Possibilities, Loblolly Memory Pad). Who knows what will be next? I was juried into the Orange County Artists Guild, OCAG, (Carborro, NC) in February, 2020. I moved to North Carolina in March 2018, after having lived in Miami for 33 years. Originally from the Chicago area, I was a founding member of the experimental art rock band Merz Pix. Private collectors across the US and the globe (France, the UK, the Netherlands, Tasmania, Japan) have purchased my works.
