About The Artwork

Kinky Party // From my Jamaica Project series which explores the way in which modern Jamaica expresses itself through its dancehall and party culture. The result is a combination of purely text-based work alongside sexually suggestive graphics inspired by imagery that surrounds the scene. The work shows a culture where women are highly sexualised within a very male dominated dancehall and party scene. An interesting commentary on the dichotomy of Jamaican women's place within society, which often sees women in roles of both breadwinner and sex object. This is an unframed original painting on 300gsm Acid Free Paper. Hand-Painted by Robin in her Sydney studio. The painting is signed and dated by Robin in the bottom right corner.

I'm a Contemporary Jamaican artist / illustrator / animator with a passion for promoting my native culture. This shines through in my work which takes inspiration from Jamaica's vibrant pop culture referencing various elements on the island such as street slang, party names and dance techniques. Within my studio practice I employ painting, drawing, printmaking and digital techniques to build a picture of modern Jamaica. I strive to create work that reflects a society that is imaginative, inventive, colourful, resilient and never shy of a likkle controversy. I've had the opportunity to exhibit my work around the world. With paintings included in both public and private collections worldwide, a few notable collections include Stussy Worldwide, Campari Promotions and DanceJa.
