L'idée de l'eau. The idea of water. Painting

Walking by this work, it will change with the light, see video posted on website: This painting tends towards abstraction, like most of my recent work. It is a very spontaneous painting, a calm, peaceful space for quiet pondering about whatever comes to ones thoughts and might become easier to grasp in the peace of a waterfall. Water is a strong metaphor of life and its mysteries, especially its mysterious relations to time, of the transiency of life and at the same time its weight, consistency and infinite possibilities. I like the idea of forgetting oneself in quiet times near water, as a path back to a better version of ourselves. After several long stays in Kyoto coming from my home country Switzerland, my work has gone through the long process of simplification I was searching for and might tend to a touch of Japonism, mainly in the sense of letting go of all that is not essential. The sides are included, so must not necessarily be framed.
