"Line" Painting

Max Brazier-Jones I create figurative, abstract portraits that blend the surreal with the familiar. My paintings reimagine the human form through bold brushwork, layered textures, and a sci-fi–inspired sense of otherness. The results are faces and figures that feel both recognisable and strange — existing somewhere between dream and reality. With a background in design and visualisation, I bring a keen eye for form and detail into my fine art practice. This foundation allows me to push the boundaries of portraiture, distorting and reshaping features in ways that evoke mood, atmosphere, and emotion rather than literal likeness. Each painting is a conversation between the real and the imagined — an exploration of identity, character, and transformation. My work invites viewers to look closer, to find something of themselves within the unfamiliar.
