"The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." -John 1:5 Photo encaustic on plexiglass and hand-crafted with encaustic and pigment burned layers…etc. The pure silver flecks were used for the Orion in the right above in the artwork. Handcrafted. I have heard encaustic paint should be used on a surface that is absorbent and heat resistant. Plexiglass is not. However, I also knew that there are some successful works out there. When I fused with a heat gun and blow torch on (encaustic) wax, I was really careful not to melt or warp the plexiglass, but only to fuse the wax layers, controlling the temperature and the fire strength. The result was…it worked!

There are mainly two types of mixed media of her work; (1) Encaustic and oil based, which includes watercolor along with other materials (2) Acrylic based mixed media. She often uses her own hand-dyed Japanese paper in both work. She lived/worked in New York and other cities in the United States and spent some time in Europe.
