La Poste Painting

My passion for plein air painting takes me around my city and far and wide. I tend to focus on spaces and building close to my neighborhood. La Poste is the retired post office Station F in Little Burgundy that had been abandoned for years and has recently been acquired by art patron, Isabelle de Mévius, who has converted it into a private art space that is open to the public for free. I choose Impressonism as a style because it is loose, free and quickly executed, giving the optical impression of the location featured. It is painted with acrylic and a palette knife and glazed with a glossy varnish. The sides are treated with gold leaf paint and imitation gold-leaf foil.
