ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Characters from local oral stories were my inspiration for this artwork. In my childhood, I heard tales of the Kikirimiau (Cat-Ruster), the Vampire of Moca, the Pichu-Pichu (a sea creature), the Cara-Diablo (Devil-Face creature), and many others. These imaginary creatures and many more were part of the mood of this painting. The painting shows a woman riding a cat with bicycle wheels instead of paws. In addition, the feline has spots in the shape of clock numbers to symbolize time being left behind with memories as we move forward. This artwork belongs to the series "Fantasies of Time."
