Characters from local oral stories were my inspiration for this artwork. In my childhood, I heard tales of the Kikirimiau (Cat-Ruster), the Vampire of Moca, the Pichu-Pichu (a sea creature), the Cara-Diablo (Devil-Face creature), and many others. These imaginary creatures and many more were part of the mood of this painting. The painting shows a woman riding a cat with bicycle wheels instead of paws. In addition, the feline has spots in the shape of clock numbers to symbolize time being left behind with memories as we move forward. This artwork belongs to the series "Fantasies of Time." Overview of the painting • Woman riding big Cat-Bicycle original acrylic painting of a blue feline with wheels on green background • Painting Name: La Tarde del Bici-Gato (The Cat-Bike’s Afternoon) • Original acrylic painting signed by the artist Pablo Montes O'Neill • It has 1 1/2″ thick sides/stretcher painted to coordinate with the artwork, so framing is optional, although it would look gorgeous with a proper floating frame. • The canvas art is wired on the back, ready to hang. Certificate of Authenticity provided *Unframed artwork Please note that the painting is shipped with no frame.

Puerto Rico
I seek to project authentic, intimate interpretations of the world I encounter. As a native of Puerto Rico, I am influenced by the characters, emotions, images, and colors associated with the island. Sometimes I turn to my childhood memories to address the existential questions I want to express. I've recently explored the concepts of time, energy, light, and space through my paintings and drawings. This has led me to work with hybrid subjects and media that can converge figuration with traits of abstraction and surrealism. I use symbolism and distortions to bridge the figures and their environment, creating scenes where surrounding energies and time metaphors serve as the glue of an idea.
