About The Artwork

It is a typical hot Midwest summer afternoon at Papoose Lake, southwest of Chicago. The air is full of sounds of insects and birds. The native grasses that grow close to stands of bushes and trees, untouched by mowers, are high and in full bloom. The lake, overgrown by patches of bright green algae, reflect the pale blue sky. When I stand in the midst of this cacophony of sounds, smells and colors, I feel overwhelmed, thinking about how I can reflect all the richness of nature with just the oil paints on my palette. It’s inspiring and moving. The scene asks for broad brush strokes, and the fleeting beauty of the light rushes the hand to work fast, to stay in the moment. To understand and see deeper into nature is to learn its language. To understand a language is to see its pattern. To see patterns is to separate the movements of lights, shades, colors. Letters unite into words, words unite into phrases, phrases unite into sentences, etc. To understand what is spoken is to see where shapes and colors meld and where they separate. Smaller shapes form bigger ones, and those, in turn, deliver bigger ideas.

By nature, I am a philosophical idealist. Questions of eternal human values preoccupy my thoughts. My art is a materialization of these questions and thoughts. My paintings are an act of love. I express my hope for a spiritually awakened humanity, for a humanity that doesn't give in to the pressures of technological domination. I address my paintings to those who seek answers in their quest for spiritual development. My goal, my mission is to evoke human qualities in people. I ask my viewers to look inside themselves and see what it is to be human.
