Painting: Oil, Acrylic on Canvas.
This painting belongs to my ongoing series Landscapes in Motion. The series is inspired by fast pace of life today. Lately, I started exploring this interest through painting and photographic experiments. For this I am using landscapes, trying to find connections between landscapes of old masters and how it would look like nowadays. I find contemporary landscape very far removed from Arcadian landscapes of the past and more closely connected to city life and photography. That is why most of my works are based on hectic streets and traffic rather than idyllic depictions of nature. It is also a suitable place to start investigating the relation that modern men have with nature, to which extent we are drawn apart from it today and how does it relate to alienation and ever growing pace of life.
In execution of this project I used photography, experimenting with long exposures that create a sense of movements and relate to the dramatic changes we are witnessing in the last decades. With this project I also hope to identify how much has the subject of landscapes really changed and what is our view on it.
