This painting is inspired by a number of stations ranging from ancient folk art to graffiti. The colors and patterns are found from a number of cultures. They are brought together and condensed in a contemporary mashup. The composition is inspired by the botanical nature of an open source graph. The ground is a desert pink with a very subtle grey base. This work measures 5'x5'x1.75. I construct the stretchers and face them with a panel for extra durability. The piece is gallery wrapped. Edges are finished with a light grey so no need to frame. I prepare the surface with a modified fresco. When dry I work the fresco secco with acrylics, spray paint, casein then glaze the entire work with an oil to give the well-worked surface a clean contemporary read. My paintings are in galleries across the United States and have exhibited at museums such as the Elmhurst Art Museum, The St. Louis University Museum of Art and the The Evansville Museum of Art History and Science. Twice this body of work was featured in the survey of contemporary painters, New American Paintings and selected by associate curators Kelly Schindler of CAMSTL and Julie Rodriguez Widholm of the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. Thank you for your time and interest! - Alicia LaChance
