Lavender Sky Painting

Mila Iloria is a Finnish abstract painter whose practice is grounded in a deeply personal, yet archetypal journey of self-knowledge, visualized in a comprehensive cycle of six collections (2012–2025). Born in the Komi province of the former USSR, within a Gulag settlement designated for exiled intellectuals, Iloria comes from a background where intellectual resilience was a formative experience. Holding a degree in economics, she made a conscious decision to pursue art in her mature years as a means of dialogue with the world and herself. An early fear of creative expression was transformed into a powerful artistic method, where painting became a tool for exploring inner states—from darkness to light, from striving to effortless flow. Today, her work is a synthesis of lived experience and a philosophy of embodied presence. Through an intuitive use of colour and form, she creates spaces for silence and contemplation, which resonate with the contemporary search for resilience and meaning. Mila Iloria actively exhibits in Finland and abroad (with over ten solo exhibitions) and is a member of key Finnish art associations. She also shares her creative experience with children and teenagers. She lives and works in Helsinki. She offers private workshops for the Artists.
