About the Artist

Lika Shkhvatsabaia

Spain

Based in Madrid, Spain. Abstraction is the foundation of my artistic practice and a way of investigating the forces that shape our perception of the world. My paintings are built through layers of oil, acrylic and mixed media, where material, gesture and rhythm interact to create dynamic visual structures.

Each body of work develops around a specific concept. Whether inspired by music, landscape or contemporary social realities, I seek not to represent these subjects but to explore the systems of tension, balance, transformation and resilience that connect them.

The physicality of paint plays a central role in my process. Texture, fragmentation and contrast become visual elements that reveal the continuous dialogue between order and spontaneity, construction and disruption.
I understand painting as a field of research where matter is not simply a medium but an active language. Through abstraction, I aim to create works that remain open, allowing each viewer to construct meaning through observation rather than explanation.
