This work is inspired by the garden of the monks of El Monasterio de El Escorial. It is a minimalist painting and is made of fine layers of casein glue diluted in acrylic paint. There are also drips simulating water drops from the fountains.

Annabel Andrews was born in the Isle of Wight in 1940 now lives and works in El Escorial near Madrid Spain, where the colour, light and volumes of the mountains inspire her work. As also her friendship with the late Spanish artists Pablo Palazuelo and Jose Guerrero. By preparing her own canvases with home made casein glue base and zinc white the work is light and luminous ready for applying acrylic colours.
