The painting is inspired by James Joyce's novel Ulysse. The day-odyssey of Mr. Bloom (who is nothing more than an Ulysses understood not as a single character but as a union of fragmented consciences) represents the "shipwreck" of contemporary society. In the painting, the artist has inserted symbolic elements into the scene, such as the bathtub (where the body is washed, but, in this case, the conscience) and the interpenetration of the two interiors, as a symbol of detachment / union of the two personalities, of the two consciences, of the two lives of Leopold and Molly, emblematic characters, symbols of man's adventure in the world.

Davide Querin - Painter and illustrator. The research of my work focuses on the exploration of subtle and remote worlds, to be evoked within oneself and in the places of the soul. What we are is determined by the set of our internal experiences, by the experience shared with others, by the elaboration of our thoughts, our feelings and our dreams, like many pieces of a mosaic that is updated every moment within us. My goal is essentially to take people by the hand and make them enter secret, timeless places, passing through distant sensations, recalled images and forgotten emotions. An invitation to contemplation and imagination, which, beyond my specific personal research, allows each viewer to find their own stories in every room, face and time. For this reason nothing is represented as it is in reality, neither people nor things, on the contrary, everything is metaphysical matter and dreamed dimension. The interiors merge with the exteriors, the conscious with the unconscious, the real with the symbolic, in dimensions where time and geographical distances do not exist. To achieve this goal, both in oil painting and in pencil illustrations, I use transparencies, which allow me to make real feelings, thoughts and memories that would otherwise not be visible. I exhibit in Italy and abroad. All of my artworks are realized in oil on canvas, using the ancient technique of oil glazing. In Rome, on 13 February 2024, in Via V. Veneto 7, at the cultural headquarters of the Argentine Embassy in Italy, my latest personal exhibition.
