‘Every day brings a chance for you to draw in a breath, kick off your shoes and dance‘. - Oprah Winfrey Dancing has always been an integral part of my festivities over the years. As a child I remember numerous parties held by my parents where furniture was strategically placed to the outer edge of the room and everyone would dance joyfully until dawn. Today I nurture this family tradition and dance at each opportunity when we celebrate with family and friends. While listening to my inner spirit and dancing to my own beat, I recognize that we are all partners in this great yet subtle dance that is life. Little Dancer of Fourteen Years, is an Edgar Degas sculpture made between 1875 and 1880. The young model was identified as Marie van Goethem, a student of the Paris Opera Ballet dance school. The bronze statue, dimensions 98cm x 35.2 cm x 24.5 cm, was part of the exhibition ‘Once upon a time… Impressionism’ at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts from October 2012 to January 2013.
