ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Acrylic on canvas panel. This painting took me over a half year of time. I always love the waterside, mystic underwater world, beautiful creatures living the place that human cannot survive and the actual word "Aquarius". And, the painting is all about them. Personally, I am a buddhist and the philosophy of buddhism and zen idea are often reflected on my body of works. The motion of pouring water of fish tank to the ocean is directly linked to the emptiness and non-possession of buddhism. On the other hand, It also symbolizes freeing myself from the cling to human relationship. Initially, the painting was inspired by a photo of a girl who is half Korean and half American that I randomly found on instagram (the use of photo is acknowledged to the model). This painting was exhibited in a group exhibition held in Seoul, Korea called "Youth" in 2016, May.

South Korea- born Australian artist, currently based in Seoul. "The early immigration period was difficult to communicate in the language, but the sense of isolation has driven me into creating art as another way of communication. Since then, art never left me." Since 2015, Eury moved back to Korea and started her art series that involves Korean poetic approach in fine art. The latest series contains flows and rhythms of Eastern art in the absorption of Western form, texture and colour. The artworks convey the world that may not be visible but the dreamlike imagery. The artist's recent works display a poetic space formed by fairytale-like natural environment and symbols with Korean traditional art approach, creating a hidden, mystic and dreamy atmosphere. In collaboration with her personal feelings, she recorded certain visual scenes that remembered from her dreams and imagination.
