UK based, Trinidad and Tobago born artist and coach Catherine Perreira's abstract impressionist works are focused on arts in health and well-being. Her work provides contemplation and reflection. They are spontaneous and intuitive in capturing the emotions and memories of her favorite places. She currently lives and works in Hayling Island, Hampshire. Her passion is focused on art in health and workplace environments and the positive impact it can have on individuals living and working in those spaces. Catherine previously worked with Paintings In Hospitals, a leading national arts in health charity based in the UK focused on providing art in clinical environments and delivering art activities to help create person centered care spaces and support the recovery and well-being of patients, carers and medical staff. From 2004 - 2006, Catherine volunteered with an elderly care home in New York delivering art classes focused on classical music and painting and observed the positive impact music and art had on patients, their mobility skills, memory and social interaction. From 2009 - 2010, in Shanghai, Catherine worked with 7 – 9 year old kids teaching English and comprehension through art. The positive effects of art on children’s ability to independently express what they were reading instead of memorising text was invaluable. Catherine is part of the Happenings Collective in London for which she was invited to participate in an inter-generational drawing workshop; and three paintings were selected for the 2016 Locals exhibition for the Wandsworth Fringe and Chelsea Fringe Festivals.
