ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I take all the photos for my work and lately have been enjoying curating the image to increase the feeling of drama. This painting is the combination of 3 shots put together to allow the feeling of falling to be created. I like to use surprising colours as a base layer and I love the way the fluorescent pink outlines the flowing hair naturally. The combination of the realism of the body and the more gestural application of the water means the movement comes not just from the body but the paint of the water. Please note the colour of these artworks mean they are very hard to photograph due to the fluorescent base, the cover image has been professionally scanned and is very close to the hung work. The secondary images have been taken by a professional photographer but appear greyed off which is why I had it scanned. I am happy to send further images if you require.

Originally from New Zealand, I have been in the U.K. for 20 years now, after 18 years in London I relocated out to the lush Kent countryside where I paint in a studio at the bottom of the garden with my dog and 6 Music. In my paintings I love the idea of recreating the physical memory of water, sunshine and light. I aim to capture in a single moment the exhilaration, the joy, the solitude or the tranquility of being in the water. I explore all manner of subjects in my work but I find the underlying connection of water seems to reoccur continuously.
