When I was a mom of young children I could no longer stare at a book while lounging. My days of basking and dosing were replaced with a "life guard" status and the job of keep a constant eye on my children. This coincided with the event of my parents removal of their pool in rural Missouri. The original painting is applied to the discarded pool vinyl torn from the swimming pool I grew up with. The blue and white background is the pigment embed in the vinyl pool liner material. I enjoyed exploring the possibilities and capabilities of the vinyl combined with my way of working with the figure.
