"Light Year 02" Painting

Wang Kai was born in Inner Mongolia, China in 1971. He worked as an art director in a 4A advertising company in Beijing. In 2008, he moved into the famous Huantie Art District in Beijing and started his art creation. So far, he has held 7 solo exhibitions and participated in more than 60 group exhibitions. The expression of life and time has always been the theme of the artist. Painting and carving on wood boards and color layers are his unique artistic techniques. Since 2020, Wang Kai has employed "excavation-style" painting, using carving knives and wooden panels to break traditional boundaries and explore the interactions of mind, objects, and Zen. The works in this exhibition are not only experiments with medium but also deep reflections of the artist's inner self. Throughout this process, his creations have gradually evolved into an introspective discovery of life, culminating in the "Void Mandala" series, symbolizing the infinite expansion and contraction of the universe. Each piece carries profound philosophical thoughts, inviting viewers to reassess the relationship between humanity and nature through the intersection of visual and tactile experiences. Wang Kai's art resembles a sincere act of worship, conveying a silent power and inner harmony through the delicate touch and carving of wood. These works not only pay homage to traditional culture but also reflect contemporary art's deep contemplation of self-destruction and rebirth.
