After my trip to Mexico, where I learned color from Mexican artists, I returned to France, to the countryside. I began this "Lisière" series by asking myself about our relationship with nature and the frontier that exists when you're on the edge of a forest. This series is a contemplation, where I tell myself stories.

My work is inspired by nature to better understand our world and what lies behind matter. Timeless landscapes, favoring memory over vision, where matter and memory mingle to form what I call "matter-place", a space of encounter and telescoping. Balancing between abstraction and figuration, my compositions delve into spaces of vegetation that are sometimes real, often exotic and fantasized. They allow us to take a step back in time to see the world and the silent life of the plant kingdom, from which humans, in my opinion, are too noisy. From the micro to the macro, I deconstruct matter through painting and drawing to extract a motif, an impulse. Then i organize my painting in layers of color and movement, a geological panorama in the manner of an archaeologist. Colors then becomes landscape, a territory of hope in motion, a call to contemplation. My 2-year trip to Mexico was an important turning point in my painting, as I gradually integrated color from black and white, understanding it not as a mere stain but as real substance. I work mainly in large format, giving me the space for a broad, dynamic gesture that is imperative for composing the first wash of colors and then immersing myself totally in the material. In the foreground, the vegetation is always dense, sometimes almost impassable, and there are two solutions: remain a spectator or experience the landscape. In the second, and sometimes third planes, a perspective emerges, where shapes intertwine and a landscape is built. An almost theatrical construction of the painting. Fascinated and inspired by artists such as: Monet, Van Gogh, Joan Mitchell, Per Kirkeby... My painting, based on the construction of the brushstroke of color and the gestural gesture that accompanies it, highlights the evocative power of the material paint. Color is more powerful than image. The touch operates like a perfume, an emotion.
