Recently I love overpainting earlier works I was´t really happy with. I feel that it suits the paintings well and this is a way of painting similar to the old Dutch masters, painting in thin layers from gouache, egg tempera to oil or Acrylic. Oil in former times was too expensive to use for the whole painting. Nowadays, it is not a question of expensiveness but of light. Many different layers make an impression of lots of light in a painting, and I love to catch this special light very much. This abstract painting is about rain and how lovely rainy days can be, washing away pains and sorrows and making new life possible. Only when we had a long draught this summer most people realized how important the rain is. And this could also be a metaphor for life in general - there will be no growth without the rain! 80x80x2 cm, Gouache, Pastels, Oil, Acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas. Signed on the back, ready to hang. Would love a white, golden or silver frame, although you can hang it unframed. Certificate of Authenticity included. Germany
Based in Germany, Gesa Reuter’s artistic practice started in 1996. She has since studied the techniques of the old Dutch masters, layering selfmade gouache, egg tempera and sometimes oil to build her paintings with different layers of paint from thin to thick. Recently she has discovered the power of watercolours and ink in her work, enjoying the way the watery materials leave marks and traces to describe her inner feelings and emotions. Rather than painting an accurate visual representation of a landscape, she prefers to use the power of memory; her artworks are an expression of her feelings and emotions in the moment of experiencing the landscape." (Inside Artists, Issue 9, Summer 2017) So far, her works have been exhibited in Germany and Europe, mainly sold to private collectors in Germany, U.S.A., UK, NL, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, to architects, small companies, private medical and psychological practices. In public collection of Amateras Foundation, Bulgaria, NHS England and Kunsthaus Stove, Germany.
