ABOUT THE ARTWORK
On a recent visit to Vienna, I was lucky enough to go to a Rubens exhibition and 'Little Fur' (a painting of his wife Helena Fourment) was among the paintings. I sat in front of it for some time and was inspired to paint my own take on it using gestural brushstrokes to give some impression of movement. This is my painted study on unstretched canvas - I would suggest it's framed behind glass.

Taking a lot of inspiration from old masters, particularly from the Rococo/Baroque era, I'm especially drawn to the composition, colors & fabrics and like to put my contemporary twist on it. Painting in a very expressive way, abstract elements are explored in these figurative subjects and the spaces in between. Using a variety of media such as acrylic, charcoal, plaster & pastel I'm constantly experimenting with textures & layers to convey flow & movement. Throughout my artistic career I've exhibited widely across the United States, UK & Europe in both group and solo shows, as well as having work regularly published.
