In this contemplative abstract work, soft greys, silvers, and faint greens dissolve into one another, evoking a landscape obscured by memory or mist. Vertical and horizontal brushstrokes intersect like ghostly scaffolding, suggesting structures that hover between emergence and erasure. The surface, ...

About the Artist

Mir-Hamza Efendiyev

My work explores the space between presence and absence, clarity and ambiguity. Through restrained color, texture, and rhythm, I create surfaces where stillness holds a latent tension and time appears layered rather than linear.

The works presented under the general title “The Gray Zone” form an artistic concept — a space where opposites converge: stillness and motion, matter and emptiness, visibility and disappearance. Through texture, light, and spatial reduction, I investigate transitional states in which perception becomes uncertain and fluid.

In the series “Loft” and “Style and Space”, traces of architecture and accumulated time dissolve into atmospheric surfaces, transforming the notion of space into an ephemeral experience. The series “Watchers” introduces silent figures suspended between individuality and anonymity.

Works such as “Mood”, “Before the Storm”, and “The Wave Train” are built on compositional rhythm and the variability of texture, revealing — beneath visual stillness — the inevitability of emerging tension.

Grounded in a physical and process-based approach, the paintings do not illustrate ideas but exist as perceptual states where material presence, light, and silence intersect. Titles function not as explanations but as coordinates, allowing the viewer to enter the work without narration.
