About the Artist

Valerie Pantalone

United States

Born in Philadelphia, then growing up in Southern New Jersey. I’m a painter of landscapes and nature, either using oil, acrylic, and watercolors as mediums. What I want most of all is to share and rejoice with the world my artistic skills in painting.

I suffer from arthritis, fibromyalgia, and depression. I used to be a printmaker / books arts major at the University of the Art but dropped out. Then, I went to Rowan University College of Art and Design for art education but was kicked out of the program. At that point, I was just so tired and sick I just took a B.A. in Art minus the education. It was here at Rowan University that I discovered my love for painting through a great teacher and mentor, Dr. Daniel Chard.

Unfortunately, fibromyalgia has taken its toll on me and for five years I could not pick-up a brush. But now, thanks to a great medical program here in New Jersey, I have made a great recovery and almost back to "normal". As the years have gone by I am slowing getting back into painting and building a body of work.

My subject matter tends to be the plants and nature that surround me. I like to go to different local places and photograph the scenery, mainly parks but also other outdoor places, no man made objects. I use my isolated landscapes photos for my bright colorful paintings. The colors of nature are an influence and a source of inspiration.

Right now, I am living just 20 minutes outside of Philadelphia on the Southern New Jersey side with my husband and orange tabby cat, Boba Fett (the greatest bounty hunter in all the galaxy).
