About The Artwork

The inspiration for this artwork arises from a deep longing for the mountains, fueled by a passion for skiing and a profound connection to nature. The imagery of soaring peaks viewed from a bird's eye perspective evokes feelings of awe, freedom, and a yearning to return to the tranquility of mountainous landscapes. Through this artwork, I hope to evoke a sense of wanderlust and nostalgia in viewers, transporting them to the serene beauty of alpine vistas. By capturing the essence of mountain air, stillness, and the vast expanse of rugged terrain, I aim to invite contemplation on the inherent majesty and timelessness of nature. The medium of acrylic on canvas, framed in wood, was selected for its ability to convey both the vibrant energy and the subtle nuances of mountain scenery. The subject matter of longing for the mountains, depicted from a bird's eye view, reflects my personal affinity for skiing and the transcendent experiences it offers. The chosen style combines elements of realism with abstraction, allowing for the portrayal of recognizable mountain forms alongside the evocative atmosphere of solitude and serenity. Overall, this artwork serves as a visual ode to the mountains, capturing the essence of their allure and the enduring sense of wonder they inspire.

I am a Swiss artist with Spanish roots. I live and work in Basel / Switzerland. My works are abstract, mostly acrylic on canvas. Rarely I go out of concepts, but from color and form. What is created during the painting process and what is the feeling of it? Is it something known or unknown? Sometimes I emphasize black elements, which one would not otherwise notice. Later they are replaced by further color layers. Thus, with time, a picture emerges, which is a part of my inner world.
