ABOUT THE ARTWORK

I like to paint quickly and usually work on 3 or 4 paintings at once. I was priming this canvas, I drew the outline of the man with my finger. It was interesting trying something new to me in under painting, giving it texture, then adding color and texture using brush strokes and other techniques. I enjoy the process of creating, trying new things, experiencing what unfolds as I'm painting. I hope viewers will see some of themselves, experiencing their surroundings with wonder. Questioning, what the inspiration for this piece was, how the viewer feels, is moved, or inspired in their own life. Enjoy! I am inspired by many different things, I am very visual, I love color and texture, mixing the two, creating texture with many layers of paint and color.. Sides are painted, coated with ecological varnish low luster varnish, signed on front. Ready to be hung or framed.

Born in 1960, I grew up in Southern California, in a artistic family loving the outdoors and
the texture of nature, from the mountains to the sea. I was attracted to the arts at an early age,
and painted my first painting at age four. I continue expressing my attraction to color and form
not only in painting but also ceramics and other multi- dimensional media. In high school art and
shop classes I further developed skills with brush and a variety of tools.
Experimenting extensively with mixed media further helped me developed a keen
understanding of color relationships and the interplay of color in the context of form. My early professional years I spent in design and the manufacturing of fine, custom
furniture. But the calling of art soon returned, beginning with ceramics. I took from furniture
his acquired knowledge of precision design, form and finishes and applied it to his ceramic
techniques. I experimented with glazes and won several juried competitions for his abilities. I returned to school, studying under an old master painter and learned the painted glaze technique of the Flemish and Dutch masters, i.e. the application of color on color transparent glazes. As a working artist I took a studio in an industrial area comprised of manufactures whose industrial wastes contained a wealth of color and form. I quickly saw a potential for art in these wastes, and focused with particular interest on the plastic and resin-based materials. Incorporating all of my past experiences, I have been able to create specializes techniques for transforming the industrial waste into exciting, sensory invoking eco-art forms. Since there is no uniformity to the raw materials the artist is working with, each art piece is uniquely individual. People who engage with these beautiful pieces are drawn to touching them. Currently working with a variety tools creating layered abstract paintings, using techniques that
are old and new to me. Always willing to try something new that is visually stimulating and
exciting to the eye. I enjoy creating, continuing to do so as often as possible.
Enjoy and see what you see.
