Many years ago a friend told me of a dream she had. She was in gym class and the exercise of the day was to jump off a high dive and land on the gym floor. This story came to mind again, along with an observation mentioned by a psychologist. When a group of people are uncertain about something and someone takes an initiative, everyone assumes that this person knows what they're doing. Usually, the rest of the people follow suit. While obviously sarcastic, this painting illustrates such a situation and is quite apparent in the political climate of today. The title is taken from a line that Puck says to King Oberon in Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream.
