About The Artwork
The warmth of the Arizona sun inspired me to create this series. It seemed to be a constant sensory experience, whether it was a certain scent, a distinguished sound or being witness to the captivating landscapes. Sounds of Silence is a sensory exploration of medium and environment; meant to offer the viewer a serene space in the midst of difficult times. Process: I choose to use wax as one of my media to symbolize timelessness, serving as a preservative. The wax is a malleable texture that represents changing circumstances and offers a rich medium that can be carved, painted or shaped. I work acrylic and oil crayons into the wax painted surfaces, using fleeting imagery and color to communicate my expressions of whispering moments.
