Lost Souls Painting

Jellyfish are beautiful, luminous creatures that float in their environment; they don't so much witness it, as experience it. They have no eyes. Their bodies contort to the pressures of the environment; they don't fight it, it's more like dancing to its rhythms. Backwards, forwards, up and down have no meaning for them. They are in the moment. In crashing waves or calm seas, they survive. They add to their environment, and brighten it with light and color, sometimes traveling in groups, in organic arrangements. They are all the same, but different. We try to force perspective on their bodies, minds, souls, etc. when we create images of them, but their luminous, flowing, sinuous, forms are impossible to ever truly capture. The marks, scribbles and scraps of paint that try to describe the creature can only suggest it, while maintaining their nature, a guttural gesture that is surprisingly beautiful, much like their inspiration.
