Lotus Root Painting

I am a painter who works with various mediums in multiple styles and genres from abstract to portraits and still lifes. An interest in interior design led me to taking a few classes in design, then life drawing and sculpture. However, painting--which I started on my own--is what I enjoy most. I began by creating work for my home and family which eventually turned into a full time pursuit. It was very trial and error, simultaneously learning how to navigate the internet as a means to offer my work to the public. An article on how to sell paintings online in Art Calendar Magazine from around 2001 piqued my interest in selling online. Websites from ebay to Etsy to Saatchi Art are the main platforms from which my work has been offered. My paintings are influenced by what I love--music, nature, color and visual harmony. I find abstract painting playful and all encompassing. I also enjoy painting interesting faces, animals and places I love--at home and in nature. I use a variety of mediums to keep the work fresh and inspired. I am influenced by color, shapes and, more specifically, interiors and am intrigued by the transformative effect color can have in the daily environment. My feeling is that more than ever we need art which has the ability to lift and inspire.
