About The Artwork

Love In Vivid Brushstrokes (Not Mounted) This calligraphy shows a dynamic modern abstraction of the Japanese kanji Ai 愛. The core of the love symbol stands in the middle, that is 心, the symbol for heart or mind from which love radiates. With a bold slanting brushstroke to the right the love calligraphy acquires a singular spirited dimension. The original Love calligraphy is not stretched yet. I don't know if you are familiar with rice paper, but when you brush on it, it absorbs the ink and it wrinkles. Therefore the artwork needs to be mounted, which means it is stretched and flattened to take the wrinkles away. I can recommend you a mounter in California, US, who offers a good service and has reasonable prices. Original size of the Love calligraphy in cm: 81 x 48.5 cm. The artwork will be shipped rolled in a tube

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

My artwork comprises Zen calligraphy, watercolor and ink paintings, and abstract calligraphies. My mediums are ink, watercolors and natural pigments on rice paper, mainly Xuan paper. I wield the Chinese and Japanese brush, preferably the flexible sheep's hair brush. Many of my Zen calligraphies express the Emptiness teaching from the Heart Sutra, which has been the original inspiration for my Japanese calligraphy artwork. Other calligraphies focus on the teachings of the Diamond Sutra, Platform Sutra, or depict Zen koan, Zen poetry or single kanji. In my watercolors and ink paintings I strive for a pictorial synthesis of the subject, in the spirit of Japanese ink painting, using bold washes and vivid brush strokes.
