ABOUT THE ARTWORK

A small child sits on a toy horse, facing a wasteland with a sandstorm approaching, home far in the distance. Vulnerable, she gazes at the viewer with hope and apprehension. This work is inspired by my search to somehow make sense of the world right now, exploring the symbolism of the absurdities and dissonances. A figurative, darkly humorous and slightly uncomfortable expression poking at the cognitive dissonance we live with today. A depiction our collective entropy in the face of climate collapse. My aim is to provoke contemplation and reflection, urging viewers to reclaim their voices and advocate for positive change. Painted in acrylics on canvas, finished with uv protective acrylic varnish. I love acrylics for flexibility with mediums, layering and drying times. This work arrives unframed and ready to hang.
