The spring blossom of 2019 was prolific, this almond tree stands opposite my studio window. Every morning during February I was greeted by this amazing sight of almond blossom. Combined with the cold blue skies of early spring and neon green grass was such a stunning image, I just had to paint it.

I called this painting Luz because this is the ancient Aramaic name for this tree. Luz means light, and as almond is always the first flowering tree to blossom after the dark winter days, it seems a very appropriate name.

This painting signals the returning long hot days of summer. A remembrance that although the days may be dark there is always a return to the light.

Born England, Lucy's fascination with art and nature began as a small child and grew into a love affair with light and colour. After completing an art foundation course at Hastings Art College she decided to study stained glass as she was utterly captivated by coloured glass and felt this was the purest art-form of light and colour. She graduated from Wrexham College of Art and Design with an HND in Architectural Stained Glass. She has successfully exhibited and her paintings and commissioned glasswork are in private collections throughout the UK, Europe, Australia and America, including the home of former Beatle, Paul McCartney. She now lives on small Greek island and concentrates on fine art. She is also highly regarded animal portrait artist and animal communicator. Her animal artwork and communication skills are featured in the recently published book by Fransesca Cassini - 'Kahuna, The Cat That Didn't Die' “ Throughout my life I have been in constant awe of the natural beauty and profound complexity of nature around me, wherever I live, from vast panoramic landscapes to the tiniest insect or flower. My intention is to celebrate nature and convey my deep love and respect of Earth through art. For simple enjoyment, but also to inspire remembrance of the natural wonder of our environment and our place in this delicate and precious web of life”
